I just completed the game and enjoyed all of it, the battles, the overworld and the characters. I really hope that you'll make the full game because it has such potential.
I needed a new game to play, then I found this. It was an amazingly fun game. short, but who cares? its not even fully released! I just cannot wait for it to be finished. 10/10
It's really awesome. I love the gameplay and It's kindda hard. I love the pixel arts. Honestly it is one of the best game i have played in my life and i want to see it on steam ( just give me a free copy if you lunch it on steam :p )

This game was a lot of fun to play and i really liked it.
I enjoy the wackiness of the art with a good selection of music to go with each boss fight. The bosses where the perfect level of hard and i just overall loved it.
Welll played and beat it sooo, here is my opinion:
1) I love the art in the battles but the scenarios can have some work (i don´t mean a LOT but a little of assets on the floor, some props, and some "info npcs").
2) I loved the selection of music, specially the battle with death, that one was a lot of fun to pla yagainst and to hear... And i kinda like how weird and fusion like some of the music is...
3) I kinda like more "gamplay" to the gaeplay outside of dodging, like attacking the guy or some items....nothing too fancy.
4) I loved the energy system of this game, it s make mistakes a little more forgiving that is usual on this type of genre...Makes the game more accesible wghitout making it too easy...Really good call on this department.
Awesome game, would absolutely love to play more. I love the incorporation of bullet-hell like aspects with music. If at all possible, and I realize this would be hard with the current design, jumping to mixed beats and offbeats would make for a interesting part of a miniboss! Thanks for making this sweet adventure
This game is so good. It reminds me of undertale... IF IT WAS A MUSICAL. However, the game was fantastic, the music went well with the bosses and the art style is cool. I do think that the game does need more visuals in the enviroment because most of the enviroments seemed empty. Keep the art style but add a bit more to the enviroments to make them feel more lived in. I go into more detail in my video and if you want to send me a full copy of the game then e-mail me. My e-mail is on my channel.
What a funky little game! this was really fun to play, thank you for making it.
One thing was with some of the fights I ended up mostly staying in one lane and abusing the jump button, so I guess some kind of incentive to not cheese fights wouldn't go amiss?
Regardless, this is a really cool game and I can't wait to see more!
Ok, i'm basically just going to say what i'm sure alot of people said. I loved the fight system,I enjoy the artstyle,I look forward to more of the game,I loved the last fight, have a good day.(I actually could'nt find anything bad about this game.)
Great game, at least one of the best iv'e seen on itch.io. It has some very good design overall. The music is good, the gameplay is also very fun and the difficulty is very well balanced. Hard enough that i couldn't beat anyone first try, but FAR from "getting your head bashed into a brick wall" difficulty. Came inn expecting a full game and was a bit dissapointed when i saw it wasn't one, but it was still very fun as i said.
It could use some details in areas like the club, like maybe the other npc's on the dance floor would change their dialouge after the fight. Also the battle in the incinerator is kinda weird and unexplained. I hope (if kept), that it is explained/fleshed out in a full release.
In addition as mengtioned, the areas like the club could have some more detail and polish, also graphically like adding a couple small details too keep it up with the level of visual polish that the rest of the game has. (at least in my opinion)
The one additional complaint i maybe have is that dying feels a bit wrong when the game just fades away. Some animations would be very nice and maybe seeing the enemies celebrate and stop attacking would help.
Also i hope that this game does not become too much of a meta game like undertale or OneShot. Those games are great, but if this game does not have anything to add to that table, i hope that it instead focuses on a seperate story that is not too "meta" (looking at itself as a game, characters knowing about functions like saving etc.) Maybe something like Just shapes and beats. That brakes a lot of conventions, but still keeps the imersion and doesn't break the forth wall.
Overall it is a very fun, well designed and challenging game. Though it need this much more polish (squinting my fingers with less than a millimeter of space between them). The battles fellt very nice and had a lot of game "juice" and i overall enjoyed this game/demo a lot. I usually don't use rating scores but i would probably give this a 9.5/10.
(also i used way too much time to write this review/comment or whatever, but i hope it helps. Also sorry for my (probably) countless of missspellings. English is not my native language)
The one additional complaint i maybe have is that dying feels a bit wrong when the game just fades away. Some animations would be very nice and maybe seeing the enemies celebrate and stop attacking would help. Yes very good point, thank you!
Great to hear your overall good experience, thanks for all your input! Very good to hear :)
I downloaded this game during school today instead of doing my classwork and I gotta say, I absolutely loved it. The fairytale aesthetic mixed with musical gameplay was amazing. I was blown away when I started playing. The only problem I had with this game was the weird random encounter at the incinerator, it was a fun battle but it came out of nowhere and left me confused. It might be cleared in full game, and other than that I had a blast playing this game and I can't wait till the full game is released.
This game is pretty awesome! I think my favorite area was the club. To me the other areas, with the all black backgrounds and minimal terrain detail, felt more empty than dream-like. More the outside of the club than the Gold Pig's VIP room. But I thought the aesthetics of the fights were really unique, a really cool mix of 3D and retro graphics with the ATM fight. But overall I thought all the fights were awesome, I liked the dialogue, and the music is definitely a strong suit for the game. If you guys ever decided to do a kickstarter or gofundme I'd definitely throw some cash at it. I really think this game is something special and I would absolutely play a full version.
Awesome to hear! We will most likely not do a kickstarter, if we do this game its because we think there is a audience that wants this and focus on getting the game done rather than a presentation page :)
this is a really great game, and i gotta say, even as hard as it is, i had fun playing it and i'm going to suggest that my friends take a look at this, 10/10! (yes i did beat the whole demo as is)
Wow, thanks for making this. I was feeling down today, but I discovered it and thought... Huh. I stopped on the ATM machine battle (cute/evil/hilarious enemy btw) because I keep dying. But I want to say, this is really unique. Great use of music as gameplay with sweet sounds, cute characters & funny dialogue.
Good luck to you all. I'll be following this project and coming back. I like it. It reminds me why Indie Games are cool.
The game told me to leave a comment so I thought why not.
I was just bored today and decided to go onto itch.io to play a game. I saw this was free and the game looked like quite alot of fun. So I got it and this is probably one of the best games I have ever played. Everhood does have quite basic mechanics which is good but it doesn't improve on the way the game works in any fight other than different sized notes and faster paced action. Other than that I enjoyed roaming around the realm inside this game and found it quite original.
power ups like you gold get one that gives you more helth bars or you cold get one that makes the lines in the songs slower or make them smaller not the song the lines in the song
And that's a really good thing. I played through the normal mode today and holy wow this shows some real potential for an awesome game. It definitely has some of the hallmarks of an unfinished game, some areas, specifically the night club felt a little bit unfinished, with the all blue wall texture, but that very well may have been a Stylistic choice, in which case, it was fine. My only major complaint is with the over world, the player felt a bit slippery, and a little slow over long stretches. I would suggest either speeding the player up, or, (And this is probably a better idea) shortening some of the space between areas just a little bit. Not a lot, but just enough to speed up some sections. Obviously you should keep some sections longer for dramatic effect, but some random in between areas felt a little long.
Other than that, the intro where the weird rainbow drug trip is talking to you feels a little long, and especially being able to choose no and then having to re watch the entire thing was a tad bit annoying. I'd recommend being able to push a button to speed the text up, like in Pokemon games.
I felt that this game was overall a really wonderful experience, it was really weird and interesting, and the mix of 3D and 2D and the dynamic camera zoom in some areas of fights were just so cool. The developers did a good job of capturing that Undertale vibe while mixing their own unique mechanics and ideas with it.
Great to hear! Thanks for your sincere feedback! :) I agree on the parts you mention like the rainbow trip can be a bit to long, I hope to find a better way to communicate this at somepoint :)
I really liked it however i feel like the difficulty could be tweaked a bit (granted this is me after only playing on easy mode, will make another comment after normal.) as i found red tie to be way harder than the fight rush soon after
I found the puzzle to be a bit too hard and could be tweaked because while you do get a rough idea of the notes its generally within a 1 note range of the actual solution. And this section get's tedious as you have to move back and forth to hear the melody
I do belive in the full game there should be more puzzles like this (Not puzzles in this format just more like it)
Another thing that should be in the full game is better settings, sound levels, 3 modes of difficulty and more.
And if there is a deeper story it definetly shouldn't be totally driven by a lost arm
But overall for all this nitpicking it really was a great experience and i am wanting to see how it'll grow
Thank you for your honest feedback! :) We learned a lot during the vertical slice of how to make it a better experience and I hope to be able to apply it to the game. It touches on things you mentioned! Have a good one!
I agree the intro can drag on a bit, maybe if I can incorparte it better in final release with some movement or similar. I do feel like the game needs a ominous start to get you in the mood!
This game was really good, both the story and gameplay were very inventive and exiting. I had a huge amount of fun playing this and eagerly await its full release.
If you haven't played the game yet don't read through this (minor spoilers)
Just played through the game (on medium difficulty) and here are my thoughts on the game and a few things I noticed:
Really like the idea of the game and the difficulty curve felt relatively fair too for a more or less hard game. First time I died was during the disco fight (first "red wave").
Sometimes it felt like I should have gotten hit, and at other times it felt like I got hit when I shouldn't (Probably just my "bias" though, so no worry. It certainly isn't inconsistent by code etc., just wanted to mention it anways)
You should really tone down those flashing colors in the last fight. It was the only time where I felt irritated/got a headache, and it wouldn't feel like something is missing if the second of flashing colors weren't there.
Maybe you could add a setting for "text speed", since it really felt rather slow in certain situations (I'm not somebody who skips text btw. but it is just too slow for me in general)
Would be nice if the last 2 bosses were replayable too. For the disco boss you could maybe add an option to get a drink from the bar and give it to him so he is powered up again. Not sure how to do the last boss again (maybe by going back into the hole.
Btw. are the brown spots in the disco something special or just some beverage puddles?
A few "bugs" I found where the following:
If you go back to the start you see your broken body and the thief. Keep in mind that this happened when I went back to the start after the last boss (no idea if it happens earlier too). Picture:
It is also possible to stand "on" the disco boss (doesn't seem intended since his lower body has a hitbox, but his upper body doesn't) Picture:
After you talk to the white mask the music disappears until you re-enter the disco. Maybe make it so that the music stops after talking with it, but the music reappears as soon as you enter the room with the dance floor again.
Sometimes floor tiles are visible in non-reachable areas (so they should probably be blacked out). On example of this is visible when you are in the room with white face and look at the bottom right of the screen.
I think that's about all I wanted to say. Really good game and I look forward to see how this game is going to develop ^^.
Very valueable feedback, thank you! We will examine all the things and patch them out :)

Sometimes it felt like I should have gotten hit, and at other times it felt like I got hit when I shouldn't (Probably just my "bias" though, so no worry. It certainly isn't inconsistent by code etc., just wanted to mention it anways) Yea we recently changed some important elements of this. We examine it futher a bit You should really tone down those flashing colors in the last fight. It was the only time where I felt irritated/got a headache, and it wouldn't feel like something is missing if the second of flashing colors weren't there. This is some sort of bug, I will try to fix this. I know what sequence you mean
Maybe you could add a setting for "text speed", since it really felt rather slow in certain situations (I'm not somebody who skips text btw. but it is just too slow for me in general) We will try adjusting this with skippable parts etc. Would be nice if the last 2 bosses were replayable too. Good to hear you mention this! Did you want to fight them several times or another reason? Btw. are the brown spots in the disco something special or just some beverage puddles? Lets leave that as a mystery, I don't even want to know.
If you go back to the start you see your broken body and the thief. Keep in mind that this happened when I went back to the start after the last boss (no idea if it happens earlier too). Yes, we are currently looking into this one!
It is also possible to stand "on" the disco boss (doesn't seem intended since his lower body has a hitbox, but his upper body doesn't) Yeah I guess its a bit weird with the collision but otherwise he is blocking such a big space. It kinda looks fun aswell so I don't really want to change it :D
Sometimes floor tiles are visible in non-reachable areas (so they should probably be blacked out). On example of this is visible when you are in the room with white face and look at the bottom right of the screen. I am not sure why this is a problem thou?
Thank you so much for your feedback and adding these pictures for the extra mile, I bet it took some extra work to do this but it really helps us to understand the issues you had.
I am glad you enjoyed the game and hope you stick around to see more! :D
Would be nice if the last 2 bosses were replayable too. Good to hear you mention this! Did you want to fight them several times or another reason?
Since there is the option for the first two it just felt weird not to be able to do it with the other two ^^ Could be interesting for people who want to finish a boss without getting hit for example. They probably don't want to replay the whole game to get there again (sure, not saving after the boss would work too, but would still be nice to be easily accessable in some way too)

Just feels a bit out of place. Nothing major, but it looks more polished imo if it's "cleaned up".

I totally understand. We are potentially discussing a bossrun mode where you could select battles later. For now we added replayability if players needed to "practice". Storywise I don't want every battle to be replayable because if enemy disappears or similar in the next scene.
Everhood is inpired by many things but it wouldn't have looked like this if it was not for Undertale, so it has been a big inspiration but I hope Everhood brings something new to the table than being portrayed as a Undertale clone.
Play the game and let me know what you think :) //Chris

I enjoyed, and i want to play a little more
I don't think you're supposed to attack back, if you add in a attack mechanism that takes away the musical theme of the game.
this is a amazing game and i suck at it also the beginning gave me a delta rune vibe
Awesome game, would absolutely love to play more. I love the incorporation of bullet-hell like aspects with music. great game, I hope you decide to finish this amazing game!

No neither of us have played that series, seems like a cool game with intresting battle system thou! :D
(If i mispell something, sorry, i usually talk Spanish)
The game, for me, was a nice experience, the sync of the music and attacks give the battles a magic touch.
The characters are unique, and the sprites are WOW.
The music, is soooo good! I really enyoed it!
However, there are some minor bugs, like taking random damage when jumping a normal attack, or save loss.
I am looking forward to see more of this fantastic proyect.

To bad you had to experience such bugs :(
But I am glad you seemed to have a good time otherwise :)
Hopefully we will iron out the issues for release!
Have a great one!
Wooden puppet...
Arm stolen...
Blue...
Oh my God, GENO IS CONFRIMED FOR SMASH!
Well someboday had to make a game with such awesome visuals!
I also think I will probably redraw the character sprite a bit, not because he resembles geno to much but because I think I can do better :)
And I definitely think you could!~
Ok, i'm basically just going to say what i'm sure alot of people said. I loved the fight system,I enjoy the artstyle,I look forward to more of the game,I loved the last fight, have a good day.(I actually could'nt find anything bad about this game.)

Thank you! :)
The battle system is fun, and I love the art style. Although you could add a little more variety to attacks. Other than that, this game is great.
oh you gonna get variety

Great to hear your overall good experience, thanks for all your input! Very good to hear :)
The first thing I thought of was, "Is That GENO?!?!?"
Right! Its a very cool character look
Its a mystery why Geno isn't around more!
But I am glad I got to do it thou:)
Geno is owned by Square Enix. That's probably why Geno is never around.

We learned a lot during the vertical slice of how to make it a better experience and I hope to be able to apply it to the game.
It touches on things you mentioned!
Have a good one!
you should make it where you get powers to help you through the game
What do you mean by powers? Like powerups?
could use a song length-thingie so people now for how long they need to survive
Is good feedback and I will consider it.
But I feel it also ruins the experience a bit :(
I have been thinking having shorter songs in several parts
Thank you for your valueable feedback! :)
I agree the intro can drag on a bit, maybe if I can incorparte it better in final release with some movement or similar.
I do feel like the game needs a ominous start to get you in the mood!
Great to hear that you enjoyed it so much!
We will definitely experiment with gimmicks on other battles if we continue with development! :)
I want to keep the controlls simple so most players can pick up and play thou :)
This game was really good, both the story and gameplay were very inventive and exiting. I had a huge amount of fun playing this and eagerly await its full release.
Amazing to hear! :D Thank you!
Seriously loved every second I played of this. I need more. So, so good.
Amazing to hear, Thank you for making a video!
Very encourging words, truly motivating :)
Just played through, I love everything about it. I hope to play the full game very soon!
Thank you and great to hear! I hope we make it aswell :)
loved all the bosses, loved the music. fantastic game. can't wait to fight gold pig eventually.
Awesome to hear! ME TOO
i'm stuck with the music puzzle in the VIP room
Keep at it! You can figure it out! Meanwhile we will ponder how to make it easier!
I guess highlighting a field for a second slightly when it's correct would make it too easy, right?
Edit: As in when the note plays actually plays, not when you walk on it (the latter would be faaar too easy)
If you haven't played the game yet don't read through this (minor spoilers)
Just played through the game (on medium difficulty) and here are my thoughts on the game and a few things I noticed:
For the disco boss you could maybe add an option to get a drink from the bar and give it to him so he is powered up again.
Not sure how to do the last boss again (maybe by going back into the hole.
A few "bugs" I found where the following:

I think that's about all I wanted to say. Really good game and I look forward to see how this game is going to develop ^^.
Very valueable feedback, thank you!
We will examine all the things and patch them out :)
Really like the idea of the game and the difficulty curve felt relatively fair too for a more or less hard game. First time I died was during the disco fight (first "red wave").
Great to hear!
Sometimes it felt like I should have gotten hit, and at other times it felt like I got hit when I shouldn't (Probably just my "bias" though, so no worry. It certainly isn't inconsistent by code etc., just wanted to mention it anways)
Yea we recently changed some important elements of this. We examine it futher a bit
You should really tone down those flashing colors in the last fight. It was the only time where I felt irritated/got a headache, and it wouldn't feel like something is missing if the second of flashing colors weren't there.
This is some sort of bug, I will try to fix this. I know what sequence you mean
Maybe you could add a setting for "text speed", since it really felt rather slow in certain situations (I'm not somebody who skips text btw. but it is just too slow for me in general)
We will try adjusting this with skippable parts etc.
It is also possible to stand "on" the disco boss (doesn't seem intended since his lower body has a hitbox, but his upper body doesn't)
Yeah I guess its a bit weird with the collision but otherwise he is blocking such a big space.

Since there is the option for the first two it just felt weird not to be able to do it with the other two ^^
Could be interesting for people who want to finish a boss without getting hit for example.

Yeah, makes sense, I didn't think that far ahead ^^'
hey, haven't played the game, but the trailer looks pretty good. I have a quick question: was it inspired by undertale?
Everhood is inpired by many things but it wouldn't have looked like this if it was not for Undertale, so it has been a big inspiration but I hope Everhood brings something new to the table than being portrayed as a Undertale clone.
Play the game and let me know what you think :) //Chris
